Major FX Currencies Weekly Performance against the Greenback - 13.8.2012


The best preforming currency against the US dollar in the previous week was the Canadian dollar. The Loonie appreciated to its highest for the last 3-months on optimism that global recovery is sustaining demand on Oil, gaining in the previous week 1.03%. Next winner was the Gold rising on speculation that the ECB will ease monetary policy. Finally the Japanese Yen and the British pound appreciated moderately against the US dollar as risk appetite increased slightly on Thursday after better than expected Jobless Claims in the US.
At the same time the franc and Euro were the worst performers against the US dollar losing 0.72% and 0.71% respectively. Lastly, the Aussie had modest losses of 0.09% trading mainly in a tight range.
